Seminar Announcement: Strengthening your Civic Association
On Monday, May 7, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Gilliam Building Multi-Purpose Room at 77 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720, there will be a forum to help Civic Associations manage community activities. An important aspect of this forum will be the ability of civic association leaders to communicate with one another, as well as with representatives of various agencies who can lend assistance. Along with presentations, a Q&A session will facilitate this dialog. Guest speakers include Linda Stump on DelDOT's Snow Removal Reimbursement, NCCPD Sr. Corporal Amy Kevis on Community Policing, along with representatives from New Castle County Code Enforcement and Parks departments. Civic Association leaders are encouraged to register to attend this informative, free 90-minute session. Contact Norm Spector at 395-5618 to learn more and to sign up.
Summer Jobs Available for Youth
It has come to my attention that some information sent out from my office had been changed and therefore is no longer up-to-date. The BOLDED areas indicated the change in information. The 2012 New Castle County Youth Employment Program is for youth ages 14-21 and runs from JUNE 29th through AUGUST 17th. Community Services will be holding an Application Processing Event on May 19, 2012 from 8AM-1PM at 77 Reads Way in Gilliam Building Multi-purpose Room, New Castle, DE 19720. As you may know, there is a new Wawa to be constructed on Kirkwood Highway off Harmony Road by the Popeye's Chicken. They had to wait for the warm weather before they could construct the necessary curb cuts, entrance/exits, etc. Today I spoke with the representative from Wawa and was informed they will be commencing construction any day now. First the road improvements will be made. Once that is complete, construction of the actual Wawa will begin. This Wawa will not be a Super Wawa. However, it will have 16 gas pumps (8 with one on each side).
