Environmental Summit - Feb 11

Fourth Delaware Environmental Summit

Saturday morning, February 11, 2012, 8:30-1:00

Wilmington University in Dover

As in the past, we'll have a plenary session followed by breakout sessions and then a final get-together to share the plans coming out of the breakout sessions.

There are five sessions this year:
1. Climate Change and Sea Level Rise
2. Shoreline and Ocean Issues
3. Delaware River Issues: Fracking and Deepening
4. Statewide Land Use Issues
5. Public Health and the Environment

This year we will run each session just once in order to allow sufficient time for formulation of concrete plans for actions to be taken. Following the completion of the breakout sessions, these plans will be presented to the entire Summit. All attendees will have a chance to join one or more working groups that will meet during the next year (or more) to accomplish the desired goals. You can join a working group started by the session you participated in and/or you can join another group that interests you and could benefit from your skills and experience. We also hope that you will recruit others in your environmental organization and your network of friends and colleagues to join the effort. Working together, we can accomplish our goals.

Next week you will receive write-ups describing the topics to be covered in each breakout session and a response form to pre-register for the Summit. As in previous years, if your environmental organization helps sponsor the Summit with a $25.00 donation, you and other members will be able to attend for free as will students and guests invited by the organizing committee. Others will be asked for a $5.00 donation per individual.

Please forward this notice to friends and colleagues and check to see if your organization is willing to be a sponsor.
