In Memory Of Our James

On Monday, May 6, 2024, our son James Raul Messick and his best friend were tragically struck by a vehicle while waiting their turn at a crosswalk on Faulkland and Centerville Road in Wilmington, DE. Unfortunately, James did not survive. He was a month shy of turning 11 years old, and graduating from Marbrook Elementary to become a middle schooler at Conrad School of Science. James eagerly anticipated his future, and looked forward to playing sports, similar to his older brother. James wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted to be when he grew up, but he loved life. James loved every part of his life (except cleaning up around the house). James loved his family and friends, and following around his big brothers. James loved being loved. James loved being supported. James loved Sonic the hedgehog. James loved superheroes. James loved anime. James loved dogs. James loved helping out those who needed help. James loved extravagantly… and as he got older that love continued to grow and shape him into the young man he had become.

James would describe himself as HIM, a pro gamer, a great big brother, a caring little brother, a supportive son, a loving boyfriend, a learning violinist, the fastest kid there was, a soon-to-be home chef, and much more. Words didn’t come easy to him but he knew so much more than what he led on. Everyone who knew and loved him would describe him as a goofy, sweet, caring, down-to-earth, loving boy.

Our loving boy James, a Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, Best Friend will forever be in our hearts. He will be missed dearly by his parents, family, and friends.

Quite a few people have inquired about donations and supporting the family. We created this page so that if you would like to support financially you have a way to do so. All funds raised will be to help with funeral costs and any unforeseeable expenses that may arise in the days to come. We are accepting all of your love and prayers as well. Please continue to send them for this road ahead of us will be long.
On behalf of the family(s), We thank you for being there for us during our time of sorrow. And as I mentioned earlier James loved being loved. The love, prayers, and support he is receiving are bringing a smile to his face. Thanks !

Special thanks, to the Emergency personnel and Nemours Children's Hospital.

May God Bless you.

With Love, The Rodriguez, Messick and Gibson family.
