NCCPD Hosts Youth Empowerment Sessions

The New Castle County Division of Police is proud to present the Youth Empowerment Program. The program is divided into two portions. The first portion consists of evening information sessions entitled, “Y.E.S. Youth Empowerment Sessions,” held once a month for nine months beginning in February 2014. The sessions, held at the headquarters of New Castle County Public Safety,  will focus on several topics of concern to today’s youth including Dating violence, Youth & the Law, Bullying, Prescription Drug Abuse, Internet Safety, and Personal Safety Protection Techniques.

The second portion of the Youth Empowerment Program will be solely  focused on female youth.  A two-week boot camp will be offered to 21 females who regularly attend the monthly sessions.  The camp will be held in June 2014.

The goal of the Youth Empowerment Program is to encompass numerous prevention strategies that will teach valuable information to both juveniles and their families.  The program administrators will seek out youth who will benefit from their participation in this educational program.
