Bob King called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with an announcement that since the project will be nearing its completion in the fall, barring any objections from the group, this would be the final meeting of the Construction Advisory Group. There were no objections voiced.
Mark Buckalew updated the group on the project’s progress during construction:
Construction Status
This project is currently running reasonably close to being on schedule.
Currently we are working on:
Reconstructing Faulkland Rd. on the future EB lanes. We will begin paving later this week or beginning next week.
Installation of new curb along NB and SB SR 141.
The overlay of Bridge BR1-600w/Micro-silica.
We will close the center of SR 141 at Faulkland Road to reconstruct the final portion of the intersection on the weekend of June 25th through June 27th. Traffic will not be permitted to cross the intersection at this time. All vehicles will be forced to make right turns off Faulkland Road onto SR 141, and vehicles will not be permitted to make left turns from SR 141 onto Faulkland Road. A detour will be set up for this closure.
On a side note, DE & L Gas Division may bore a service line across SR 141 north of Faulkland Road before the end of summer. We do not have final details from DP & L Gas division at this time.
Tom Brooks reported to the group that landscape design will be started this summer and will solicit members of the community to participate in the landscaping planning group. Funding for the upkeep of the landscaping once the guarantee contract has expired will default to members of the community and businesses. Actual landscaping work is slated to start during the fall of 2011 or spring of 2012. Tom requested that those interested in becoming a part of this landscaping committee should contact Bob King at bob.king@state.de.us" bob.king@state.de.us and he will formulate a list for the Project Manager.
There was a discussion pertaining to the involvement of the State’s Adopt a Highway Program.
The paving of Faulkland Road in both directions should begin next week.
The overlay of Bridge BR1-600 over Kirkwood Highway will be finished within the next month or two.
There was a question to when Wagoner Drive would reopen. Response: This would occur when the final traffic switch is done.
There also was a question if coming off Willow Run, could a left turn be made. Response: No.
This was the final meeting of the
