Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Frawley Stadium
he Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Frawley Stadium (Blue Rocks) located at 801 South Madison Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Household Hazardous Waste can include items such as household cleaners, garden pesticides, oil-based paints, nail polish, fluorescent bulbs, or antifreeze.

Only Delaware residents can bring these hazardous items for free during the hours of 8am-4pm on Saturday, March 6, 2010. This event is restricted to residents only, no commercial services. The event will be held rain or shine.
During this event, DSWA will also be collecting used electronic goods for recycling. Items such as old computers, printers, CD players, microwaves, telephones, televisions, game boys and many other electronic goods will also be accepted at this event.
DSWA is no longer permitted to accept medication during its Household Hazardous Waste events. Residents wishing to dispose of medication should be thrown out in your regular trash in the following procedure:
Take unused, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs out of their original containers;
Mix the prescription drugs with an undesirable substance, like used coffee grounds or kitty litter and place them in impermeable, non-descript containers, such as empty cans or sealable bags, further ensuring that the drugs are not diverted or accidentally ingested by children or pets;
Throw these containers in the trash; and
Flush prescription drugs down the toilet ONLY if the accompanying patient information specifically instructs it is safe to do so.
During the event the City of Wilmington will also be sponsoring a shredding event. The city will collect 2 file size boxes from residents that will be shredded on-site.
