Important Road Project Info - Larry Mitchell State Representative 13th District

October 28, 2013

In this newsletter, I provide information on an important community meeting to discuss the Kirkwood Highway and South Union Street construction project. This is a major DelDOT initiative that is necessary to update the infrastructure of our local highway, Route 2. As many of you know, this is going to be a yearlong project. I will do my best to pass information along as it becomes available.
In addition, the Elsmere community does a great job of organizing celebratory events for the community. I’ve highlighted a couple of them below.

Finally, I am always happy to help if you have a government related matter with which you need assistance. In these situations please know that you can call my office as a resource.

Sincerely,

Larry Mitchell
State Representative
13th District

New Castle County Police to Participate in National ?Prescription Drug Take- Back Day?

CITIZEN ALERT

New Castle County Police to Participate in National ?Prescription Drug Take- Back Day?

The New Castle County Police Department, in cooperation with the DEA, will be one of several Delaware collection sites for the nationwide prescription drug take-back day.

On Saturday, October 26, 2013, the DEA will collaborate with state and local law enforcement agencies to get potentially dangerous controlled substances out of our nation’s medicine cabinets.  Collections will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the first floor community conference room at the New Castle County Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building.

On National Take-Back Day you can surrender expired, unwanted and unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction.  These drugs can be a source of illegal use and are a risk to public health and safety.

This program is anonymous.
Prescription and over the counter solid medications such as tablets and capsules will be accepted.
Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and needles will NOT be accepted.
Illicit substances such as marijuana and other illegal drugs are NOT part of this program.
For more information regarding this initiative, please call the New Castle County Police Community Services Unit at (302) 395-8050. You can also visit the following websites for information regarding prescription drug abuse:

New Castle County Police would like to remind the public of the secure prescription drug drop-off box that has been permanently installed in the main lobby of the Corporal Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building.  In June, the department announced the implementation of the prescription drug box so that citizens would have the opportunity to anonymously drop off their expired and unwanted prescription drugs as often as possible (no liquids or needles /syringes will be accepted).

The public will have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the service is provided free of charge. This is not intended to be used by any businesses, medical professionals or clinics. This program will not only help to protect the environment, it can also deter the usage of prescription drugs by unintended parties. The Division of Police constantly strives to be proactive in enhancing public safety and saving lives.
